James Ahere

James Ahere is the co-founder and Chief Legal Officer at Weza Interactive Entertainment, a Kenyan gaming studio dedicated to creating African-inspired video games that empower and educate. With a background in law and business, James leads business development and legal strategy at Weza, which he co-founded with his brother, Odongo George Ahere, a software engineer. Their debut game, Mzito, launched in 2017, takes players on a journey across Africa’s beautiful destinations while addressing themes of leadership, awakening potential, and conquering corruption. Following the success of Mzito, they expanded their vision with Riziki, a mobile rhythm game that merges gaming with Africa’s finest tunes and rhythms, aiming to unite Africa through music. James is passionate about telling authentic African stories through interactive entertainment, believing that the world is eager to experience Africa’s creativity, culture, and identity.
